As part of Cooley`s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, we are proud to offer diversity scholarships to outstanding first-year law students. Recipients receive a 1L paid summer associate position and a prize of up to $30,000 to support teaching at the Faculty of Law. The prize will be paid in three installments: $10,000 after completing the 1L summer with the company; $10,000 after completing the 2L summer with the company; and the remaining $10,000 when they join the company as a full-time employee. Students committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion are encouraged to apply. To fulfill our commitment to diversity, we launched the Davis Wright Tremaine 1L Diversity Scholarship program. We offer a total of five fellowships in the following offices: Los Angeles (1), New York (1), Portland (1), Seattle (1) and Washington, DC (1). This is a paid summer associate position and $10,000 for the student`s tuition and second-year expenses. This program is named after the firm`s first partner. This program requires the participant to be in the New York office. Participants must be 2L and work in the associated summer program. The last published deadline was June 28, so it`s best to check that out as summer approaches. The Shumaker Diversity Scholarship is offered to students from underrepresented or minority groups. Candidates must possess excellent academic qualifications at the graduate level and law school, proven leadership skills, and community involvement.
Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to practicing law after graduating from law school in the geographic area of one of our firm`s offices. During the second summer, after successfully completing the first summer, the incumbent receives an offer to join the Cullen and Dykman Summer Associate Program and is considered for a full-time job offer at the firm upon graduation from law school. The scholarship program, which focuses on increasing the number of law students interested in summer and long-term employment with Nelson Mullins, aligns perfectly with the firm`s commitment to inclusive excellence and diversity in all aspects of the law firm`s life. Winners will receive a $10,000 bursary and a summer associate position in one of the firm`s 25 offices. (Placement will be determined on a case-by-case basis.) Eligible applicants must have a strong reputation as a first-year law student at an ABA-accredited law school; provide proof of academic and professional success; make a meaningful contribution to diversity and inclusion through participation in law schools or other collaborative efforts and initiatives; may include belonging to a racial or ethnic group that has historically been underrepresented in the legal profession, or identifying as a person with a disability, openly LGBTQ and/or a veteran; and have a technical background and a genuine interest in intellectual property rights at Fish & Richardson.
