TAP provides unique and high-quality legal information, advice and representation in the judicial building. The program does not provide legal assistance or referrals at other times. Shalom H.E.L.P. has a strong team of volunteer law students who conduct admission interviews and help clients respond to legal advice. Two or three lawyers occupy the clinic every week. These volunteers come from both local law firms and individual firms. Shalom H.E.L.P. was opened in May 2008 and has served more than 350 different customers to date. Conservation Law Center provides free legal advice to conservation organizations, works to improve conservation law and policy, and provides law students with clinical experience in the legal practice and public service tradition of the profession. Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal advice to eligible low-income individuals throughout the state of Indiana. ILS helps clients who face legal issues that affect their ability to have basics such as food, housing, income, medical care, or personal safety.
Most of the cases handled by ILS are cases such as family law where domestic violence prevails, housing, consumer law, access to health care and access to government services. THEY do not deal with criminal matters. Shalom H.E.L.P. organizes weekly legal clinics for the city`s homeless at Trinity Episcopal Church. The clinic is open every Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in visits. Through its partnership with the District 10 Pro Bono Project and IU Maurer Law School Student Body, H.E.L.P. has provided advice and representation in areas as diverse as housing, utilities, family law, bankruptcy and property law. Law students who conduct interviews and create forms for family law people. A lawyer supervises the work, checks the forms and advises clients without an appointment.
People who need help should bring all the documents they have associated with their legal problem to achieve maximum efficiency, bringing together low-income clients with volunteer lawyers from the community who will handle the case for free. For civil matters only. This organization serves Lawrence, Greene, Owen and Monroe counties. Sharpen and develop your skills while representing clients under the supervision of a licensed lawyer. The clinic`s clients are local residents, and many – if not all – of them have limited income that discourages them from hiring private legal counsel. This clinic focuses on family law matters, including divorce, paternity determination, guardianship, adoption, parenthood and custody. Justice Unlocked is a non-profit law firm based in Bloomington. We were founded in November 2015 to fill the justice gap in Monroe and surrounding counties for those who are not eligible for free legal services but are unable to pay a lawyer`s standard fee. We deal with divorces, custody, adoption, criminal matters, minor claims, pro-se law or landlord rental. Call us every day to arrange a free plug to see if we can help! Students at the clinic also work with individual clients and disability rights groups to combat discrimination and access benefits and services for poor people with disabilities. The clinic`s field research includes individual client representation and participation in community projects that advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. Most individual cases concern the entitlement to invalidity benefits of the Federation and the Länder in administrative hearings and appeals.
