How to Measure a Shotgun Barrel for Legal Length

Today, I want to clear up some of the confusion with information about how the BATFE measures shotgun barrels for legality. It actually works for any measure of firearm, so it also works for short-barreled rifles. An accurate measurement of the barrel of the rifle is good to know, and it is quite easy to measure the length of the barrel yourself. The basic process is similar from gun to gun, but there are some small variations depending on the type of firearm. I think that if I did this often, I would get myself an ankle and paint a red mark at the exact legal limit, as long as I cast it in the barrel during a closed, empty action and sawed wood between the mark and the muzzle, I would know that I was good on the length. The length measurement must be standardized so that different people do not measure the same weapon and have different measurements. Otherwise, I can cut a gun and be 100% sure I`m legal, and an officer can measure their way and arrest me. Before measuring the barrel of your weapon, make sure your weapon is completely unloaded and always pointing in a safe direction. Next, find a stud rod slightly thinner than the barrel of the rifle and slowly insert the rod into the barrel until it can no longer go any further. Next, draw a line with a pencil where the stem protrudes from the muzzle. Finally, push the ankle out of the barrel and measure the ankle with a measuring rod.

This is especially true with respect to the National Firearms Act and how it regulates things like silencers, machine guns, destructive devices, short-barreled rifles, and my favorite – short-barreled shotguns. The measurement is carried out from the closing surface of the bolt closed through the barrel to the muzzle.
