After our wedding, we recommend Grays Court to everyone – we are already planning to book for our first anniversary. It`s a family business and it shows how much they care about every detail. Rhiannon, the wedding planner, took all the stress out of planning the big day so we could relax and enjoy every moment. We chose our wedding breakfast from the wedding menus of the place. The food was of very high quality; We chose fish nuggets at first, followed by chicken and a chocolate brownie for dessert. If, like me, you have a sweet tooth, you will take the “candy box” at this real wedding, as it is sprinkled with delicious treats to commemorate the Easter season. I really enjoyed my adventure in York. I love discovering new places and trying new ideas. Enjoy. If you are planning a wedding at Grays Court, please leave a message and I will reply with my availability and price list. This was my first visit to this charming wedding venue in the heart of York. Nearly a thousand years old, Grays Court is a piece of history. Emma and Matt chose Grays Court York to host their wedding ceremony and invited me to capture the day as it unfolded. The wedding celebration took place in another incredible place, the National Centre for Early Music. This converted medieval church has become a fantastic party place to continue the festivities, with Lord of the Rings-themed table names! I`m glad I`m not sitting on Mordor. I opted for a Morilee dress by Madeleine Gardner in ivory lace with an ornate back. I bought the dress at Northallerton Outlet bridal shop and had it expertly modified by Thimbelina in York. I fell in love with the dress after seeing it on another bride and had to cross my fingers that she would choose another dress so I could have it! Fiona & Joe wanted their day to be relaxed and virtually free of posed images. Since I love documenting weddings, this gave me the opportunity to simply capture their day as it unfolded.
With Joe, his family and many guests from Australia and various other parts of the world, they were all a lot of fun, relaxed and ready for anything. I started with Fiona and the girls from Greys Court in the bridal room with occasional trips to the gardens to catch some of the guests when they arrived before the ceremony began. From then on, it was easy to take as many informal photos as the day spent on speeches and evening celebrations. I helped decorate it with chocolate icing and lots of white chocolate bunnies. And there are even more delicious details to revel in – a beautifully adorned wedding dress, a pretty mint color scheme and the dog Sybil acting like a flower girl. We love it! A beautiful autumn wedding from Grays Court to York that you can share today! From Lindt bunny gifts and an epic chocolate wedding cake to a full-size egg hunt, bride and groom Christine and Christopher certainly spoiled their guests.
This is the cover of Fiona & Joes Gray Court`s wedding. It can only be described as a relaxed and fun and very informal wedding. Do not hesitate to call me for any aspect of your wedding. Visit my portfolio page to see more examples or my York blog page The place didn`t need much decoration as it`s already a beautiful building, so we did all the decoration ourselves. We used gypsophila flowers to decorate the wedding breakfast table with tea cups filled with mini eggs. Built on the site of a Roman fort and inhabited continuously since the 11th century, Grays Court was home to many famous personalities. The official residence of the treasurers of York Minster between 1091 and 1547, the owners after the Reformation included the Duke of Somerset and Sir Thomas Fairfax. The house is named after the famous Gray family, who lived here between 1788 and 1945. My favourite part of the day was entering the garden of Grays Court after the ceremony, when Mr and Mrs appeared and many people saw us celebrating from the city walls, we felt like a famous couple! We got married on April 15, 2017. We chose the date because it was Easter Saturday and a year after our engagement.
We both love chocolate, so we had to choose Easter. We chose a sweet mint color scheme for bridesmaid dresses, ties and a few other little things just because it was a beautiful spring color. Our theme was Easter reference and we had an Easter egg hunt for kids (and adults!) and lots of chocolate eggs for guests to serve themselves. Rooms at Grays Court have been lovingly restored to offer a blend of timeless character and modern comfort. From the William IV four-poster bed at Willoughby to the double monsoon shower at Cumberland; Enjoy the luxury of staying at Grays Court. Emma`s father played and sang a special song for his daughter just before the first dance. It was a wonderful surprise. My best advice to other northern brides is this: make sure, as newlyweds, to be ten minutes away from your guests. The day goes by so fast and it was so nice to leave and discuss the excitement of it all. My hair and that of my bridesmaids were styled by Escape Hair in Strensall.
I would recommend them for bridal hair, we received so many compliments on the beauty of our hair. As a special touch of the day, we decided to have our dog Sybil as our flower girl, and the place was delighted that she walked down the aisle with a flower necklace. And what a beautiful day! Emma gave up the traditional dress for a tailor-made jumpsuit of top and skirt made by her mother. Matt looked like every inch of the neat English gentleman in tweed. As a courtesy, we gave Lindt bunnies, which were attached to each guest`s place name. When it comes to entertainment, we decided to choose our own playlist created on Spotify to make it more personal for us.
